I arrived in Thailand at the end of november 2018, after weeks of backpacking through Cambodia.
And I was hungry. Very hungry. Read the Cambodia story to understand why 😅
I was also tired and emotionally worn out of everything I had experienced and taken in along Cambodia and Vietnam.
I chose to stay at a hostel, a very clean and serene place, with a relaxed athmosphere. Pong and her husband are very nice and welcoming, and will go out of their way to make sure you are happy. It is common practice across Asia, that the footwear is left at the entrance of the building. So all the shoes off as you enter.
My first morning in Bangkok - I woke up, went out, and just wanted to eat everything. I ordered for breakfast a coffee, a coconut drink and soup! 😂 My face was swollen from exhaustion, but I knew I had to eat and move.

And then off I went to explore this magical place, full of majestic shrines and vibrant street life -Bangkok

I decided to go to Ayutthaya Historical Park and dive a bit into the history of the temples. It is fascinating! Built in the 14th century and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is definitely a must see.

I must say that monkeys are everywhere, and one should be careful not to feed them as they can easily become agressive and to guard all belongings, as they will easily steel and run. I've heard stories how they stole wallets, credit cards, sunglasses, and even a baby in June 2022 that in the end died. So...not a joke!

Thailand is famous for its cheap and good quality Health and Wellness services and I was going to find out for myself. I decided to take a day off and just spoil myself: skin treatments, manicure, pedicure, peelings and hours (yes! hours) of back massage. ❤ The most pempering day in my life!
Don't miss the opportunity to spoil yourself!

Something that you need to be aware of when travelling around Asia, is that the meat is usually held outside (no fridges), so you could easily get food poisoning. My trip was to soon for any vaccines to come into effect, so I was really carefull with what I ate and what I drank at all times. However, aside street food, Thailand offers a wide variety of safe places to eat from.

A must see while in Bangkok is Chatuchak - one of the biggest flea markets in the city. With over 15,000 stalls, it has a wide variety of stuff like Thai handcrafts, handmade products, clothing, accessories, arts and painting, house decorations, households, souvenirs and gifts, pets, plants and books.
You could say it is the heaven of shopaholics!
My stay in Thailand was short and resumed only to Bangkok, but I plan to return someday and explore its culture and customs in more depth.
As recommendations, bellow are most of the links that helped me build my wonderful trip:
Chatuchak Weekend Market
Ayutthaya Historical Park
30 Hostel - where I stayed
Wat Pho Thai Traditional Massage School
